Who is Ink Well?
The Face Behind the Name
My name is Sabrina Pope-Boyd, Ph.D., and I am the founder of Ink Well Neuropsychology. I am a licensed clinical psychologist with extensive training in neuropsychology.
I earned my doctorate in clinical psychology from Fordham University and received my Bachelor of Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
My Approach to Assessment
I believe that neuropsychological assessment can be a powerful intervention. When conducted thoughtfully, an evaluation can transform uncertainty into clarity—helping individuals and families understand not only what challenges are present, but why they occur and how they can be addressed effectively.
My approach to assessment is fundamentally strength-based. Every person brings unique abilities, resources, and ways of thinking to the world. A comprehensive evaluation helps identify those strengths while also clarifying areas of vulnerability or difficulty.
The goal is not simply to assign a diagnosis, but to develop practical, individualized recommendations that help people function more effectively at school, at work, within relationships, and in everyday life.
Clinical Experience
I have conducted psychological and neuropsychological evaluations across both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with individuals across the lifespan—from early childhood through older adulthood.
My training and clinical experience include:
Bronx Children’s Psychiatric Hospital
Beth Israel Hospital – Outpatient Clinic
Lenox Hill Hospital – Center for Attention and Learning Disorders
Bellevue Hospital, New York City
Mount Sinai Hospital – NYC ADHD Clinic
Jewish Board of Family and Children’s Services, including both the general outpatient clinic and the therapeutic preschool for children with neurodevelopmental disorders
Ascend Behavioral Center
My work has involved evaluating individuals with ADHD, autism, learning disorders, depressive and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder, trauma-related conditions, tic disorders, and the cognitive and emotional effects of chronic medical illness.
I also have particular experience with diagnostically complex cases, where multiple developmental, cognitive, emotional, or medical factors contribute to an individual’s presentation.
Integrating Assessment with Mental Health Care
In addition to my work in assessment, I have extensive experience evaluating and treating a wide range of mental health conditions and emotional concerns. A strong background in psychotherapy and patient advocacy informs the recommendations I provide, helping ensure that assessment findings translate into practical, individualized strategies.
Whenever possible, I collaborate with schools, physicians, therapists, and other professionals to support the implementation of these recommendations. The goal of an evaluation is not only to clarify patterns of strengths and challenges, but also to guide meaningful supports that can be applied in everyday life.
Why the name “Ink Well”?
Neuropsychology is grounded in science. Careful measurement, standardized assessment, and research-informed interpretation guide the evaluation process and ensure that conclusions are based on reliable evidence.
At the same time, neuropsychological evaluation involves bringing many pieces of information together — cognitive data, developmental history, lived experience, and personal strengths. A report becomes more than a collection of test scores; it tells the story of how a person thinks, learns, and adapts, helping make sense of where they have been and what may support them moving forward.
Ink Well also draws inspiration from the octopus, a symbol of resilience and adaptive problem-solving. When faced with challenges, the octopus explores different strategies and approaches obstacles from multiple angles. In a similar way, neuropsychological evaluation helps identify strengths, clarify challenges, and support new ways of navigating learning, work, relationships, and daily life.
